Research Projects

Our goal: to study the main challenges and dilemmas involving competition and economic regulation and propose innovative solutions with the latest in law, economics and technology. We believe that the strategy of pragmatic, scientific and interdisciplinary analysis focused on the desired results is the way to design market solutions for today's complex problems. We invest in the talents of the new generations and in the wealth resulting from the combination of different world views, different forms of understanding and expression of knowledge, interaction between different generations and different layers of the population, the academic community and society.

Specialization of the Justice System

The Courts must be prepared to handle disputes by incorporating economic perspectives in their analyses and decisions, in addition to legal concepts. In this regard, the research group will analyze economic principles that can be integrated into legal reasoning, aiming to improve normative capital and minimize errors in legal decisions. They will conduct empirical research and evaluate cases in comparative law to propose viable solutions that maximize the efficiency of the Brazilian Justice System. In this initial stage, they will studyfeasibility and possible models for specializing the justice in areas related to economic regulation and competition defense.

Enhancing Innovation and Entrepreneurial Opportunities through Digitalization

This research on regulation and antitrust intervention in digital markets will assess the feasibility and effectiveness of the current objectives of initiatives adopted in Europe, such as fairness and contestability. Additionally, the researchers will develop new objectives that strengthen social and economic development. Therefore, innovation and entrepreneurship will be the primary targets to be addressed as relevant objectives for regulation and antitrust in digital markets.

Sustainability and Governance in Digital Market Regulation

The ESG approach is a prominent topic in public discussion. In this context, sustainability is significant for the application of competitiveness and the regulation of the digital market. Concern for future generations and environmental issues must be present in current market and government decisions.

Another essential point in the current antitrust debate is the labor market. The new market dynamics resulting from digitalization have profoundly transformed labor markets, which need to be closely analyzed.

Therefore, labor markets and sustainability should be on the agenda of regulators and antitrust authorities concerning their effects on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Antitruste para Mercados Digitais

This theme aims to integrate broader studies on the risks of unnecessary interventions and explore a roadmap that includes innovation and efficiency as critical points of analysis. The gap in the institutional capacities of antitrust authorities in matters of architecture and information technology should not be a justification for antitrust interventions without demonstrating their significant adverse effects on markets. The focus will be on the proper analysis of these interventions and the demonstration of their anticompetitive effects in digital markets.
